Emily Mees

Emily Mees joined the ABIS team in 2022 and is responsible for our smooth administration. She is your primary point of contact for individual enrolments. In our offices in Leuven, Emily makes sure our teachers and participants have everything they need for a successful training!

Sandy Schillebeeckx

Lic. Sandy Schillebeeckx studied mathematics at the University of Leuven. She worked during 6 years at the Royal Military School of Belgium, doing research in the domain of plasma physics. Afterwards she worked as a teacher in mathematics. She started at ABIS in 2008, where her main domains of interest are Oracle, Java, SAS and XML.

Sandy Schillebeeckx has the following certificates:

  • IBM Certified Solution Developer - XML 1.1 and Related Technologies.
  • Sun Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (SCJP) V 5.0, 6.0.

Yvette Van den Acker

Yvette Van den Acker is in charge of the accounting of ABIS. She is your prime contact for all questions concerning invoices.

Kris Van Thillo

Drs. Kris Van Thillo studied applied economic sciences at the University of Leuven. Since 1992 he works at ABIS, first as an instructor and consultant, within the domains Oracle, Db2 and UNIX/Linux.

Nowadays, he is responsible for outbound sales and client relations in Belgium and the Netherlands. Since 2000 he is also the manager of the ABIS office in the Netherlands. Given his broad technical background, Kris occasionally gives training, mainly in the context of databases.

Kris Van Thillo has the following certificates:

  • IBM Information Management DB2 Technical Sales Professional.
  • Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certified Associate.

Peter Vanroose

Dr. Peter Vanroose studied mathematics and information theory at the University of Leuven, where he worked as a researcher for about 20 years in the area of artificial intelligence. He gained a broad experience in UNIX/Linux, programming & scripting (a.o.: C, C++, COBOL, R, Perl, Python, bash) and XML. In 2004 Peter joined ABIS where he is teaching courses. He specializes in relational databases –more specifically Db2 & MySQL–, in programming languages, and in data science.

Gert Vanstapel

Gert Vanstapel studied Computer Science at the University of Brussels. He worked for 5 years at Oracle Education Belgium as an instructor where he taught various courses on Oracle Databases. He also worked more than 10 years for a non-profit organization where he held various positions including staff and project manager, instructor of ICT courses and animator for various multi-media-related workshops and activities for children and adults.

Gert joined ABIS in 2023, focusing on databases, data science and application development.

Arnout Veugelen

Arnout Veugelen studied civil engineering and architecture at the University of Leuven. After working as a project manager for building projects, he started in 2014 as a trainer and consultant for ABIS, to further pursue his passion for IT. He specialises in everything 'Data', mainly relational databases and data science, with a focus on SQL and Python. Furthermore Arnout teaches introductory IT courses on computer architecture, operating systems and networks. Since 2021, he is general manager of ABIS.

Paul Veugelen

Paul Veugelen, Dr. Sc. (mathematics), became responsible for the training department of ABIS in 1984 and in that capacity closely followed the general IT market. He was also active as a teacher of courses on SQL and relational databases. In 1995 he became general manager of ABIS. He is currently chairman of the ABIS board of directors.
