Installing, managing and maintaining a VMware vSphere environment

Intended for

This course is designed for system administrators ans systems engineers who are responsible for the integration, administration and management of a vSphere environment using vCenter.

Background

A working knowledge of Microsoft Windows. Basic knowledge of Linux is adviced.

Training method

Instructor-led classroom training with exercises. Each pair of student disposes of a server to make the exercices.

Objectives

This hands-on training will make you understand the structure of vSphere. You will install and configure you own vSphere environment using vCenter. you will be able to install, manage and troubleshoot virtual machines. You will have basic knowledge on how to use command line tools to perform advanced configuration techniques and troubleshoot a VMware vSphere environment.

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Install and configure ESX Server with multiple guest virtual machines
  • Create VMware virtual machines, network them and set their priorities for accessing resources
  • Ensure high availability for applications inside virtual machines
  • Monitor the state of the system and virtual machines
  • Troubleshoot ESX in a systematic manner

This course is not a VMware authorized course and therefore not valid towards the VMware Certified Professional (VCP) exam.
