Definities

Eclipse

Eclipse is a free software/open source platform-independent software framework for delivering rich-client applications. The Eclipse Web Tools Platform project (WTP) extends the Eclipse platform with tools for developing Java EE web applications. So far this framework has typically been used to develop IDEs. Eclipse was originally developed by Object Technology International (later purchased by IBM), but is now supported by the Eclipse Foundation, an independent not-for-profit consortium of software industry vendors. Many notable software tool vendors have embraced Eclipse as a future framework for their IDEs, among them Borland/Embarcadero and IBM Rational.

VisualAge Generator

VisualAge was the name of a family of computer integrated development environments from IBM, which included support for a few popular (and not so popular) computer programming languages, like C, C++, Smalltalk, Java, ... VisualAge Generator made it possible to develop applications in a 4GL and generate the application for multiple platforms. VisualAge products are no longer available. Various members of the family have been replaced by products in the WebSphere Studio family of products. The 4GL has been replaced by the Enterprise Generation Language (EGL).

Rational Developer for System z (RDz)

IBM Rational Developer for System z, an integrated development environment geared towards traditional mainframe development, Web development, and integrated mixed workload or composite development in a z/OS environment

Rational Application Developer (RAD)

IBM Rational Application Developer (RAD) is an integrated development environment (IDE) for visually designing, constructing, testing and deploying web services, portals and Java Enterprise Edition (Java EE) applications.

Rational Business Developer (RBD)

IBM Rational Business Developer (RBD) is a rapid development workbench for delivering cross-platform web and service-oriented applications based on the Enterprise Generation Language (EGL).

Applicatieontwikkeling met IDEs, al dan niet gekoppeld aan een of andere vorm van 'generatie' van applicaties, neemt nog steeds in belang toe. Het typische credo - met een druk op de knop...

De hedendaagse IBM ontwikkeltools zijn gestoeld op volgende uitgangspunten:

ze hebben open-source Eclipse als basis;
ze genereren code voor de hele applicatiestack - front end, middle tier en backend;
ze bouwen voort op, en integreren, oudere bestaande tools en ontwikkelomgevingen.

Ons cursusaanbod is dan ook ontwikkeld tegen deze achtergrond. We bieden kennis aan die het u moet toelaten efficiënt met de nieuwe tools aan de slag te gaan;.
