Business architecture within TOGAF

Objectives

According to TOGAF, Business Architecture is a prerequisite for architecture work in any other domain (data, application, and technology) as it demonstrates the business value of subsequent architecture work to key stakeholders and business sponsors. This 1-day course delivers a crystal-clear response to frequent questions like: what is it, why should we have it, what are the most useful techniques, how does it relate to ICT, how can it help us to align business and ICT. The concept of business architecture is illustrated by a relevant case, in which it proved valuable to get a firm grip on the process!

This course will:

  • Create awareness about the need for business-driven enterprise architecture. In some organizations business architecture is already owned and developed by business representatives.
  • Demonstrate how business architecture is covered by and within TOGAF.
  • Develop insight in business architecture as a means to address today's business challenges: customer journey, strategy development, cost-efficiency, business and ICT alignment, product innovation, etc.

Main topics

  • Section 1: Business Architecture within TOGAF

Introducing business architecture as a discipline and as part of the TOGAF framework

  • Section 2: From business architecture to IT architecture

How can business architecture be used to challenge existing IT architecture and roadmaps? How can business and IT architecture be aligned? Includes demonstration by means of a case study...

  • Section 3: Business Architect: role and responsibilities

What are the responsibilities of a business architect? What's the business architect's contribution to existing governance processes?
