Practical informationRegistration Analysts, developers, and database administrators who will be using MySQL; web server maintainers who are not yet familiar with MySQL; and anybody wanting to gain knowledge of the detailed workings of a relational database system.
Some knowledge of either PHP (cf. PHP programming: fundamentals course), Java (cf. course Java programming), Perl (cf. Perl programming: fundamentals course) or an other programming language is advisable but not necessary.

This course gives insight in relational database systems, learns how to write simple SQL statements (DML and DDL), and presents a detailed description of MySQL: what it is, what it is intended for, and how it can be used. The participant will learn
Attention is also paid to the use in the context of a web server, to MySQL in relation to other RDBMS, and to specific topics like models for data storage, integrity, authorisations, and performance.
Moreover, this course will explain how to install the system and use it in practice, both on Unix/Linux systems and on MS-Windows. After completion, the participants will not only have the necessary theoretical background of the SQL language and of MySQL as RDBMS but also will have had sufficient practical training to start working with MySQL in an independent way.
This course consists of three components. After having attended all three, participants will have a general overview of MySQL as RDBMS.
Participants can also attend each course separately; this allows them to compose their own package, based on background and aims, or to spread the course over a longer time span.
The courses RDBMS concepts and SQL fundamentals are also presented as introductory courses for other relational database systems.
