PRINCE2® v2009 Practitioner

Intended for

An important aspect of your daily work in an ICT organisation is leading projects. Your experience is that, despite your knowledge and experience of project management, ICT projects do not always proceed as expected. You require a goal-oriented project management methodology, that takes account of the continually changing circumstances concerning a project. You are looking to further your knowledge and application of the PRINCE2 methodology.

Background

You have a minimum of 4 years' work experience, of which 2 years have been as project leader. During these 2 years, you have gained wide experience of leading a project. You have knowledge of working in a project-oriented way and have ready knowledge of PRINCE2 at Foundation level; the PRINCE2 Foundation certificate is required to follow this course (cf. course PRINCE2® v2009 Foundation (with exam)).

Training method

Class teaching. Extensive use is made of scenario-based project assignments. The assignments serve the purpose of deepening the essential PRINCE2 concepts. There are both group and individual assignments. Participants will also be offered an opportunity of role-playing in different project settings.

Objectives

At the end of this training you will be better able to:

describe and analyse an existing project organisation and existing project structure according to general project management and according to PRINCE2® (*), in all its facets;

  • design a project organisation and project structure according to PRINCE2 and both describe and defend this design;
  • use the process-oriented approach of the PRINCE2 methodology;
  • initiate, plan, monitor and adjust complex projects according to PRINCE2;
  • identify and manage the risks and critical factors for success in a project;
  • describe the starting points, objectives and basic concepts of working in a project-oriented way according to PRINCE2;
  • list the components and main processes of PRINCE2, describe the mutual relationships between the main processes and give examples of the data, results and products that are exchanged between the main processes;
  • place the project in a continuously changing environment, and make the adaptations required as a result of a changing Business Case visible and discussable.

During the course, participants will also be specifically prepared to do the PRINCE2 Practioner examination.
